About Duncan

Duncan Kitson Chainsaw Sculptor

Duncan Kitson Chainsaw Sculptor was born, raised and still resides on the North West coast of Anglesey, North Wales. After spending his early working years felling trees in Newborough Forest, he discovered that it was far more rewarding to carve trees instead of cutting them down. Today he is one of the most distinguished chainsaw sculptors in the United Kingdom.

Inspired by his natural environment, the beauty of the coastal landscape, its wildlife and the ever changing sea and western sky, his work is mostly calm, peaceful and tactile, unlike the raging storm of the chainsaw that created it! The unique and original qualities of his work lie in the design, engineering, symmetry and movement of his chainsaw sculptures.

Duncan has an extensive knowledge of trees, their history, age, condition, durability and suitability for all types of projects. He can carve fallen trees or living trees into bespoke pieces of art for schools, public areas or private commissions. With over thirty five years experience, Duncan has represented Wales and Great Britain in many international wood and snow sculpture symposiums and competitions. His wood carving work can be seen throughout the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA.
